Tim Conheeney

Great long-lost photo that re-surfaced last December of Tim Conheeney anchoring Paramus Catholic DMR to Penn Relays Championship in 1973!

Tim was the top runner on the ’72-73 PC team that had one of the greatest years ever by a NJ distance team.

Tim was the quiet leader of that amazing team.

I (John Grady) was a year behind Tim and looked up to him so much. So sad to hear of his passing. Here’s a summary of what Tim and the guys accomplished that year:

– ’72 Eastern States XC 5th place 12:40 at VCP
– ’72 XC #1 runner on Parochial A team championship team – ranked #2 team in NJ
– 1st ever XC MOC – 5th place individual
– ’73 Indoors – MOC 2nd – 9:07.9 2 mile
– ’73 Outdoors
– Anchored Penn Relay 10:07.7 DMR championship team – 4:12.2 mile split
Anchored US #2 all time 17:12.6 4 mile relay in 4:14.9 (no NJ 4 mile relay ran faster for 40 years until CBA indoors 2013 17:09) Missed national record by 0.4 seconds.
– Anchored 7:47 2 mile relay in 1:55 – #2 all time NJ at the time
– Golden West Invitational 2 Mile – 6th place 9:02.2 – # 2 all-time NJ at the time
– Tim went on to run at Georgetown – he ran 13:58 for 5k as a junior. Tim lost his senior year due to medical issues.

He was a lifelong avid runner, missing the U.S. Olympic Trial Qualifying standard by five seconds.
